There are several available state and federal sponsored programs to provide grants or to pay for portions of a student's tuition and fees.
Read the descriptions and requirements of the various funding programs offered at Paris Beauty College below to get yourself enrolled in a specific program as soon as possible!

Los Medanos College & Contra Costa College
Los Medanos College (LMC) and Contra Costa College (CCC) are California Junior Colleges which we have contracts with Paris Beauty College. A student is allowed to register for Cosmetology, Manicuring, Esthetician, or Instructor Training at LMC or CCC. All classes are held at Paris Beauty College. It works just like an "off campus" course. Registration periods through LMC take place during regular college registration times, Fall, Spring, and Summer. You must be a California resident to be eligible. That means having lived in California for at least one year, or longer. LMC or CCC students must pay what is known as the "college unit" fee, which is currently $20.00 per unit. These unit fee's are in lieu of the private pay amounts These programs seem too good to be true, but they can save the students literally thousands of dollars. A unit is every 50 hours of training. Units are calculated each semester by the number of hours you estimate that you will do that semester. Unit Fee's may be possibly waived if you are a low income student who qualifies. LMC and CCC will cover the cost of tuition, however, the student is required to pay the cost of the course kit when the course begins. Students can register for 20 - 40 hours per week. You MUST continue to register each semester as long as you have hours remaining to be completed. Currently, LMC and CCC has given Paris Beauty College all registration and school application paperwork. It will be necessary to make an appointment to pick up an LMC or CCC packet with our school administrator. Please phone ahead (925-685-7600) for a tour of the school and an LMC/CCC information meeting.
Breakdown of units per course
Cosmetology = 1600 hrs. / 32 units
Manicuring = 400 hrs. / 8 units
Esthetician = 600 hrs. / 12 units
Instructor Training = 600 hrs. / 12 units

Federal Pell Grant (FPG)
Unlike student loans, for those who qualify, Pell Grants DO NOT have to be paid back. A student must be at least 18 years old to fill out an application. Applicants are not eligible if they are in default on any past student loans, if they have been incarcerated in any federal or state prisons, if you have any drug convictions, or if you are in the united states on a "student visa" only. To determine if you are eligible, please call our school administator and make an appointment to fill out the application the U.S. Department of Education has supplied. The application can be processed within a few working days to see if the student is eligible. The information reported will be evluated, and the results sent back to the school. How much grant money recieved will depend on how fast/slow the student will complete the course. This particular program can be used with the Cosmetology course only. For the most part you must be considered very low income to be eligible for this grant. There is no obligation to fill out this application, and an application can be mailed if desired. |
