Students enrolling in any of the courses at Paris Beauty College must be at least 16 years of age.  If you do not have a high school diploma, a G.E.D., or equivalent, you will be required to pass an "ability to benefit " exam before enrolling.  All students, regardless of education, will pass an entrance exam before beginning school.

Physical Requirements

Before entering any new career you must prepare yourself for the possible physical and mental demands it may require.  Some of these courses may require one to stand or sit  for long periods of time.  Sturdy shoes and good posture are important in keeping your back strong and efficient.  If you have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome you may need to consider the fact  that these courses may require you to do a lot of work with your hands.  If you have certain learning disabilities, you may find the studies more challenging.  Persons with learning and physical limitations are encouraged to visit a school or salon and observe the demands that will be placed on you.

Ethical Standards

During your time as a student you will come in contact with all different kinds of people from all different walks of life.  Everyone is treated equally and fairly  Your job will ultimately be to "serve the public" therefore, keep in mind that you may or may not come in contact with people who have  different lifestyles then your own, and possibly with an illness or disease.  You will be taught during theory classes how to recognize some types of illness and disease and how to treat the situation.  It's to your benefit, and others, to become as knowledgeable as possible in health and safety issues.

Course/Study Completion

Students who successfully complete a course of study at Paris will be awarded an appropriate diploma and proof of completion verifying their graduation from the course he/she studied.  Upon graduation you then be eligible to take the California State Board Exam. The exam facilities are located in Fairfield and Los Angeles.  After passing the exam, you will be licensed to work and can begin your career into the fascinating world of the beauty industry!
